Dear 2008 Family Campers,

Welcome to Family Camp II 2008! Camp is Sunday, August 10th – Saturday, August 16th.  Our theme this year is “Handle with Care” (it’s the only planet we’ve got) and we are excited that you will be joining us!  We have a great group of families signed up and look forward to the lively discussions and cross-generational interactions that will arise from the range of ages we will have in camp.  There is no place better than the shores of N-Sid-Sen to gather for a week of community and lively discussions.

Practical: packing suggestions (including a few you would call requirements.)

§  Sleeping bags/pillows (bed linen is not provided)

§  Towels/soap/ toiletries, personal medicines, etc.

§  SUNSCREEN (definitely) and Bug Repellent (maybe) and rain gear (rarely)

§  A warm jacket (maybe)

§  Flashlights and/or reading lights for after your cabin-mates fall asleep

§  A fan to move the air in your cabin (for evenings of hot days)

§  Sandals or shoes that can go in the water (the beach is pebbly)

§  Snacks to share during evening game nights & Whoppers (yes, the candy) for the float trip.

§  Board games (for after 9pm) and Musical instruments (for campfire or talent show)

§  A few bucks for the following:  Ski boat donation to cover gas costs, ice cream out on the float trip day, camp shirts.

§  Folding chairs and beach towels for the beach (a favorite).

Program-related and other nice things to bring:

§  Books (ranging from spiritual to techie) and other artifacts relating to the theme for book table and Your favorite sustainability tip or scripture.

§  Native plant & tree book (some of the identification signs are going to get some work).

§  Flotation device for Wednesday’s river raft trip (there are plenty available at camp, but some prefer their own, especially for the little ones).

§  A box or bag for recyclables at your cabin (to take home at the end of the week)

§  No “secret pals” this year, but we will have lots of  “thanks” notes, so lots of kindness.

§  Family blessing to lead at the beginning of a meal or Morning Watch program

Note: We recognize that each family will have their own rules, but please try to minimize (near zero) the use of things like gaming devices, iPods & cell phones.

This year will include many of your favorite activities: Polar Bears, the float trip, campfires, Water Olympics (shorter than last time), water skiing and tubing and, of course, the ever-famous Talent Show!! We’ll have crafts and stories, games, lots of music, and movie night! We’re anticipating a great week and hope you are too!

Important business:

§  Arrival is Sunday afternoon, August 10, at 4 pm or after.

§  Please don’t forget to bring completed health forms

§  Please don’t forget to bring copies of your insurance cards

§  Please don’t forget to bring final payments (check book or pre-pay on-line).

You will have a chance to check in, settle in to your cabin and skip that first rock across the lake. If you haven’t been to N-Sid-Sen before, this time will allow you to start finding your way around camp. Our first official activity on Sunday will be dinner at 6pm or so. Camp ends on Saturday August 16  at about 10am.

If you have any questions about camp prior to your arrival feel free to email one of us at mdpaquette@comcast.net 425-454-1176 or contact Randy Crowe at Camp N-Sid-Sen directly with questions about logistics etc. The camp phone number is 208-689-3489 and is located at 36395 S. Highway 97, Harrison, Idaho, 83833 (north of Harrison).

Peace and safe travels,

Martin Paquette & Judith Paquette
